Meet up with awesome couple Todd and Lee-Anne Jago from Waka Abel Tasman, outside Kaiteriteri boat ramp, at 9am. You will experience a traditional Māori karakia (blessing) for protection and discover important tikanga (etiquette) associated with travelling inside a waka, before embarking on your haerenga (journey).
Description
Meet up with awesome couple Todd and Lee-Anne Jago from Waka Abel Tasman, outside Kaiteriteri boat ramp, at 9am. You will experience a traditional Māori karakia (blessing) for protection and discover important tikanga (etiquette) associated with travelling inside a waka, before embarking on your haerenga (journey). Once on board, you will paddle along the coast to Split Apple Rock (Toka Ngawhā), a beautiful, atmospheric place and one of the Abel Tasman coastline’s most iconic spots. It’s an easy, two-hour return trip, and by the end you’ll understand how empowering membership of a waka crew can be.
